About this Basket Making Kit

Oval-shaped baskets are particularly beautiful and learning to make them is an important part of the journey for any weaver. In this exclusive course we've teamed up with leading basketmaker Mollie McMillen. Mollie will teach you how to tackle an oval-shaped base, how to weave a beautiful cable-pattern double French rand on the sides of the basket, and how to attach a pair of perfect leather handles. These will make your basket super-comfy to carry every day.

This course includes more than 3.5 hours of expert instruction and and your final basket will be 16 inches long, 12 inches wide and 10 inches high.

Who's this course for?

This is a beginner to intermediate course for people who have either made a basket at some point before, or who have a fair amount of experience and confidence in craft.

What's Included in the kit?

In the willow oval basket kit you will receive:

A Large bundle of high-quality willow weaving rods.
A pair of premium leather handles plus leather thongs for attaching them. (This is super easy and fun to do and no stitching is required.)
A soaking bag - your willow will need to be soaked for a couple of hours before you weave it - full instructions are included.

The course includes:

Over three hours of expert instruction with leading basketmaker and teacher Mollie McMillen.
You can access the course from any device by logging into our website (we will provide you with login details after purchase).
Our courses are produced by our BAFTA-winning team of filmmakers which means they are clearly presented and well thought out.

How long does the basket take to make?

The basket can be made in three sessions of approximately 1.5 hours each. The smaller basket will take slightly less time.

What else do I need?

We design all our courses so that they require absolutely minimal tools. To do this course you will need:

A pair of secateurs
An old screwdriver to help make gaps in the weave
A craft knife

Can I do this course with a friend?

Our courses are great to do in a group! If you would like more than one kit, just select the number you would like at checkout.

After purchase, we will email you a unique access link for each member of your group. All you need to do is forward one of these on to each student. EASY PEASY!
